A Poetical Journey for the Grieving

**I received a copy of this from the author in exchange for my honest review.**

One doesn't expect such prose in this day and age on the manner of grief in poetry but Sharon Arthur achieves a mythical and spiritual journey for the grieving in her poetry. The poems are divided into sections, and she shares with the reader words that have come to her from the loss of her own parents. One doesn't need to lose a parent though to identify with Arthur, simply know the feeling of grief.

The poems are beautiful and haunting and the call to the age of mythology in them makes for a powerful read and I haven't seen such talent in a 'new' poet in quite a long time.

And just to expand on that, this was poetry that I could really identify with, it wasn’t just pretty and lyrical, it was emotional -and without being overwhelming for me-. I felt a connection to Arthur’s words and I know this will be a poetry book I will revisit, she hit the nail on the head with keeping the length just perfect, you can read it in a sitting or pick one a day and it will still be impactful. I was very happy to read a poetry book and if you’re looking for some poetry to read, I’d recommend this book.- Haley R. Flores

Beautiful Poems

Surprisingly uplifting given the overall theme of loss. Beautifully written and with enough charm and wit to keep the poems from becoming too maudlin. Highly recommend. - Sean

Great Book For The Non-Poetry Type Person

I found this book when a dear elderly friend lost both her sister and shortly thereafter her brother-in-law. We were doing a small gathering to send them off and we wanted to have a poem or something appropriate for the occasion. Neither one of us were poetry people, but I came across this new poetry book that seemed like just the type of material we needed.
I was so happy to have found this book. The poems are very relatable for a non-poetry person. Many were so appropriate to be read out loud for the occasion.
We ended up using some stanzas in some of the longer poems that really touched my grieving friend and made it even more personal for her.
We ended up using 3 different poems for the service and I really believe that the author's words we so expressive that they touched everyone in attendance.
I look forward to seeing what other works this author offers. And I might even dip my toe into other poetry books, I hope they are as clearly relatable like this one is.  - Kym McBride

The Wind Softly Murmurs by Sharon Arthur

This collection of touching and mystical poetry invites readers into a personal journey of grief. Painfully touching, the poems weave spiritual, literary and earthy metaphors that poignantly describe the intangible. The meticulous language is polished and precise. The imagery is creative and universal. The poems gradually move from a refrain of sorrow to mounting hope that pain can be transformed and one’s desperation will not be the last word. And the title could not more beautifully depict the essence of the collection. - Janna Roche

Sharon Catches...

...the feelings of someone's child (we ALL are) as you face, and make that transition to "orphan". It is NOT an easy path; but she takes you on her journey - which, as not even a year old "orphan", myself - through the hauntingly beautiful/horribly life-changing, trek. A thought provoking, "yes, that's it", inspiring read. Thank you, Sharon, for sharing your journey with me!!! Connie R Jordan... - beamererin.com

Grief, love and remembrance

This book of poetry reads as if a tale of grief, love, and remembrance of loved ones lost. It was deep and emotional and at times otherworldly beautiful. This book shows how much love and affection even in sadness the writer had for her loved ones. I am voluntarily reviewing this book after receiving a free copy. - Travina

Poems don't always have to rhyme

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I really wanted to love this book...and while I like it, I don't love it. Some entries were uplifting and easy to get through, and some entries felt more forced. Overall good work. - Cassandra DeStefano
